A mineral resource assessment was performed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to assess the potential of undiscovered skarn-hosted tungsten resources in the Northern Rocky Mountain region of eastern Idaho and western Montana. This region has seen moderate tungsten trioxide (WO3) production in the past from a variety of mineralization styles including skarn, vein and replacement, and wolframite-quartz veins. The geology of the area is dominated by large plutons of Cretaceous to Tertiary age, emplaced into a belt of sedimentary rock ranging from Mesoproterozoic to Permian age, and affected by tectonism related to the Sevier and later Laramide orogenies. This map shows the structural configuration on the top of the Cotton Valley Group in feet below sea level. The map was produced by calculating the difference between a datum at the land surface (either the kelly bushing elevation or the ground surface elevation) and the reported depth of the Cotton Valley Group. This resulted in 10,687 wells for which locations were available. After deleting the wells with obvious data problems, a total of 10,504 wells were used to generate the map. The data are provided as both lines and polygons, and the proprietary wells that penetrate the top of the Cotton Valley Group are graphically displayed as quarter-mile cells. This geologic map area of 5,430 km2 spans a reach of the lower Missouri River valley and adjoining uplands for about 100 kilometers east of Gavins Point Dam, the easternmost mainstem dam on the Missouri River. Understanding the surficial geologic history of the valley is relevant to natural resource management of the Missouri National Recreational River and is foundational to improved understanding of hydrology and ecology. The Cabin Branch and Cabin Creek (Cappy Avenue) outcrops are located along two small creeks in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The Cabin Branch outcrop contains exposures of silty sands of the Upper Cretaceous Severn Formation, and both outcrops contain Paleocene silty quartz and glauconitic sands of the Danian Brightseat Formation and highly fossiliferous glauconitic quartz sands of the Selandian Aquia Formation. It was necessary to contour this expanded interval, instead of just the upper part of the Cotton Valley Group, because of the limited availability of data. Ideally, just the part of the Cotton Valley Group above the Bossier Shale would have been contoured, but there are a limited number of Bossier picks in the database, and many of the Bossier picks are not at a consistent stratigraphic break (J.L.
