![]() This dataset depicts the Level I ecological regions of North America, as compiled by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC). These draft files of of Level I, II, and III ecological regions of North America are an update and revision of files developed by Canada, the United States, and Mexico in the late 1990's in a cooperative project for the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC 1997). The CEC was created under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC) to address regional environmental concerns, help prevent potential trade and environmental conflicts and promote the effective enforcement of environmental law. The Agreement complements the environmental provisions established...
![]() Level 3 of the Global Lakes and Wetlands Database (GLWD) comprises lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and different wetland types in the form of a global raster map at 30-sec resolution.
![]() This data set shows the locations of more than 3000 North American power-generating facilities using fossil fuel sources, and includes information on each plantâs primary fuel; the generating capacity; and the air emissions of SO2, NOx, Hg, PM2.5, PM10, CH4, N2O, and CO2. The data were assembled primarily from the three North American countriesâ national emission inventories: the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) in Canada; the National Emissions Inventory of Mexico (INEM), which is compiled from publicly available databases and reports; and the EPA emissions and Generation Resource Integrated Database (eGRID2007) and the EPA 2005 National Emissions Inventory (NEI) in the United States. These...

![]() Key Findings Tree swallows were sampled at 6 locations in the Maumee River watershed, as part of a collaborative four-agency study on ecosystem effects of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) on biota. This study involved samples of sediment, benthic invertebrates, and an insectivorous bird, the tree swallow. Endpoints include assessment of changes in both the tree swallow metabolome and transcriptome to determine whether perturbations can be traced from ToxCaste, an in vitro water sample assessment through mussels/clams, fish, and birds. Avian tissues and food will be analyzed for CECs with an emphasis on agricultural pesticides. Other Great Lakes’ landscape types will be sampled in future years. Products...
![]() These data were downloaded from the CEC RETI Website. They are provided here without any updates or modifications. Source: http://www.energy.ca.gov/reti/documents/index.html For questions regarding these data or the Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative contact the California Energy Commission. Project Overview: The Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative (RETI) is a statewide planning process to identify the transmission projects needed to accommodate California’s renewable energy goals. Phases 1 and 2 of the RETI project resulted in the identification and refinement of Competitive Renewable Energy Zones (CREZs) that hold the greatest potential for cost-effective and environmentally responsible renewable...

This is for the North Pacific LCC Conservation Planning Atlas. It is a map layer with two different data layers: 1) North America Land Cover Data from the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), http://www.cec.org/Page.asp?PageID=122&ContentID=2819 This map of North American land cover at a spatial resolution of 250 meters provides a harmonized view of the physical cover of Earth's surface across the continent in 2005. Nineteen Level II land cover classes were defined using the Land Cover Classification System (LCCS) standard developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations. The land cover map is the first in a series of maps produced by the North American Land Change Monitoring...

![]() The North American Atlas â Basin Watersheds data set shows watersheds in North America at 1:10,000,000.  A watershed is an area encompassing part or all of a surface drainage basin, a combination of drainage basins, or a distinct hydrologic feature. Watersheds are mapped in a hierarchical system, with the largest units encompassing the entire drainage areas of major rivers or river systems, or encompassing seaboard areas. Within these large units, subsequently smaller units encompass the drainage areas of smaller rivers and streams. Watersheds are classified differently in Canada, Mexico and the United States; the data set includes a continental classification (the North American Watershed, or NAW level),...
![]() This data set shows Level I, II, and III ecological regions (ecoregions) of North America, and is an update and revision of files developed by Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America in the late 1990âs in a cooperative project for the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC).These revised ecological regions were developed in a meeting between representatives of the three nations and CEC in April 2006 in Newport, Oregon.      Ecoregions are areas of general similarity in ecosystems and in the type, quality, and quantity of environmental resources. The ecoregions in this data set are based on the premise that a hierarchy of ecological regions can be identified through the analysis of...
![]() This data set shows the locations of more than 35,000 industrial facilities in North America that reported releases and (or) transfers of pollutants in 2005. The data were assembled from the three North American countriesâ Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs): the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) in Canada, the Registro de Emisiones y Transferencias de Contaminantes (RETC) in Mexico, and the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) in the United States.         Additional information on North American pollutant releases and transfers is available through the Commission for Environmental Cooperationâs Taking Stock web site at http://www.cec.org/takingstock/.
![]() This database describes North American installed renewable energy capacity, in megawatts, as of 2003.Capacity is reported by state, province, or territory.Included are biomass, geothermal, hydropower, solar, and wind energy.      The North American Renewable Energy Database (NARED) was developed by the Helios Centre (http://www.centrehelios.org/en/) for the Commission on Environmental Cooperation and Environment Canada.Three databases, one for each North American country, were combinedinto the final database.  The Mexican segment was prepared by Energy Matters, the United States segment was prepared by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) using the Renewable Energy Plant Information System...
![]() This data set shows North American marine ecoregions.  Marine ecoregions are areas which fall within the Exclusive Economic Zones of the North American countries and which have general similarity in terms of physiographic, oceanographic, and biological characteristics. These marine ecoregions are constructed as a spatial framework with three nested levels. The data are intended to be scalable: appropriate for perspectives and interests varying from regional to continental in scope; ecosystem-oriented: based on a range of connected biological, oceanographic, and physiographic characteristics; and linked: related to other marine and terrestrial data sets, classification systems, and disciplines.    Â...
