BLM GRSG BER: Sagebrush, Pinyon-Juniper, and Conifer Interface (polygon)

Vectorized version of the raster model with the PJ and Conifer interface areas merged across the west. A raster model was developed to identify sagebrush land cover which is in close proximity to conifer land cover, thus suggesting a risk for conifer encroachment. To achieve this end product the following general steps were taken: 1. Extract sagebrush land cover types from GAP/ReGAP data. 2. Extract conifer land cover types (excluding those corresponding to pinyon, juniper, and pinyon-juniper) from GAP/ReGAP data. 3. Reclassify and add these raster datasets. 4. National burn probability (BP) and fire intensity level (FIL) raster datasets for the United States were generated for the 2012 Fire Program Analysis (FPA) System submissions using a geospatial Fire Simulation (FSim) system developed by the US Forest Service Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory to estimate probabilistic components of wildfire risk (Finney et al. 2011). This fencing potential layer is a merged representation of the 27 allotment data files submitted to the BLM by the USFS for the GRSG CEA and the GSSP snapshot of approved BLM grazing data made on 5/24/2012. This aggregate national dataset identifies pasture and allotment borders, represented as linear features, within BLM and FS managed public lands. This dataset serves as a surrogate for fencing potential across BLM and FS managed lands. Pasture and allotment polygons were converted to linear features using the “Polygon to Line” tool in ArcGIS. Initial data included U.S. historic fire perimeters 2000-2011. In January, 2013, Susan Gutherie provided finalized 2012 perimeters (as submitted by field offices). These were merged with the original submission. BLM GRSG BER: Allotments Not Meeting Land Health Standards - Livestock Grazing Causal Factor (polygon)

This dataset was created for the GRSG National Planning Effort from the 2008 BLM Land Health spreadsheet. Sherm Karl edited this spreadsheet to indicate those allotments in which the habitat land health standard is not being achieved and livestock grazing is a causal factor in the non-achievement. These allotments were then joined to the GSSP National Allotment database on 6/28/12. Of the 1135 allotment records from the spreadsheet, 21 were not able to be mapped.
