This dataset contains aspect information derived from 30 meter National Elevation Dataset in the Middle Rockies Ecoregion. These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) "as is" and may contain errors or omissions. The User assumes the entire risk associated with its use of these data and bears all responsibility in determining whether these data are fit for the User's intended use. The User is encouraged to carefully consider the content of the metadata file associated with these data.
Aspect is the compass direction toward which a slope faces, measured in degrees from North in a clockwise direction from 0 to 360. Aspect was generated using ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, with the USGS National Elevation Dataset as input. For quality information regarding the National Elevation Dataset, see http://nationalmap.gov/elevation.html. These data cover the entire continental U.S. and are a continuous data layer. These raster data have a 30 m x 30 m cell resolution. This aspect data set is considered official foundational data for the GAP species modeling process. The data have been made available provisionally to enhance understanding and use of GAP species data.

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. These datasets consist of a workspace (folder) containing a collection of gridded datasets plus a personal geodatabase containing several vector datasets. These datasets are designed to be used with the ArcHydro Tools, developed by ESRI in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey, StreamStats Development Team. The datasets, together with the ArcHydro Tools, allow users to delineate watersheds and compute several watershed characteristics....

These data were compiled for monitoring riparian vegetation change along the Colorado River. This file contains data recorded at 42 sandbars between Lees Ferry and Diamond Creek, AZ, which are sampled for both geomorphic and vegetation change annually. Field data contained here were collected from 2012 to 2016 in September and October of each year. Plant species cover values in 5441 1m^2 quadrat frames, locations and elevations of those sampling frames, slope and aspect, sample dates, temperature and precipitation data, and flood frequency parameters were either recorded in the field or calculated. Annual and seasonal climate variables were estimated from eight weather stations distributed along the river corridor...
Aspect was used as a surrogate to characterize areas that are relatively drier, therefor have lower live/dead fuel moistures. If the effects of vegetation are ignored, it was assumed that fuel moisture varies according to aspect. That is, with all else being equal, fuels are typically drier on southwesterly aspects, and moister on northeasterly aspects. Relative fuel moisture was assigned to 3 aspect classes : Azimuth (degrees) Relative Solar Radiation Relative Fuel Moisture 1 to 80; 351 to 360 low high Flat; 81 to 170; 261 to 350 moderate moderate 171 to 260 high low Excluding the effects of real-time weather, fire behavior is dependent upon the structure, composition, and arrangement of fuels; fuel moisture, and...

Management of transportation networks is affected by, and has effects on, natural and cultural resources through direct and indirect interactions. Until recently, the availability of such spatially explicit information has been limited; however, the data released here to the public will prove valuable for comparing existing networks and planning options with respect to potential impact to, or from, environmental factors across broad areas, for example, States and Agency Planning Regions. Integrated network and resource analyses can provide insights into potential construction and maintenance costs as well as safety risks and environmental impacts during project planning and assessment. A cooperative project was...

![]() The aspect of each 1-km2 grid cell was represented by eastness and northness (Zar, 1999), which are variables that represent aspect by converting the 1 to 360º range of possible azimuths into a range of -1 to 1, where -1 = south or west and 1 = north or east for northness and eastness, respectively.

These datasets each consist of a folder containing a personal geodatabase of the NHD, and shapefiles used in the HydroDEM process. These files are provided as a means to document exactly which lines were used to develop the HydroDEMs. Each folder contains a line shapefile named for the 8-digit HUC code, containing the NHD flowlines that comprise the coastline for that island. The “hydrolines.shp” shapefile contains the lines that...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release record consists of topographic data themes that cover the United States-Canada Transboundary Geospatial Fabric (TGF) domain. The 30-meter (m) raster data sets included under Topographic Derivatives are: 1) digital elevation (dem.tif) , 2) topographic wetness index (TWI, twi100X.tif) ,3) slope (rise over run, slope100X.tif), 4) aspect (asp100X.tif), and flow direction (fdr.tif). In some instances, values were multiplied by 100 and converted from double precision to integer format to reduce file sizes. All file formats are in GeoTIFF (Geographic Tagged Imaged Format).
