This Open-File report is a digital geologic map database. This digital map database is compiled from previously published sources combined with some new mapping and modifications in nomenclature. The geologic map database delineates map units that are identified by general age and lithology following the stratigraphic nomenclature of the U. S. Geological Survey. For detailed descriptions of the units, their stratigraphic relations and sources of geologic mapping consult Yerkes and Campbell (1993).

The geologic map was created in GSMAP at Socorro, New Mexico by Orin Anderson and Glen Jones and published as the Geologic Map of New Mexico 1:500,000 in GSMAP format in 1994. This graphic file was converted to ARC/INFO format by Greb Green and GlenJones and released as the Geologic Map of New Mexico in ARC/INFO format in 1997.
The Santa Ana Quadrangle is in the northern part of the Peninsular Ranges Province as defined by Jahns (1954), except for the northeast corner, which is underlain by basement rocks of the Transverse Ranges Province. A summary of the general geology of the Peninsular Ranges Province is given by Jahns (1954) and a generalized geologic map of this part of the Peninsular Ranges Province is given by Rogers (1965). This report provides a digital representation of this quadrangle.

This coverage includes arcs, polygons, and polygon labels that describe the generalized geologic age and type of surface outcrops of bedrock of Southeast Asia (Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Solomon Islands and Vietnam; and portions of Australia, China and Taiwan). It also includes shorelines and inland water bodies.
Alameda County is located at the northern end of the Diablo Range of Central California. It is bounded on the north by the south flank of Mount Diablo, one of the highest peaks in the Bay Area, reaching an elevation of 1173 meters (3,849 ft). San Francisco Bay forms the western boundary, the San Joaquin Valley borders it on the east and an arbitrary line from the Bay into the Diablo Range forms the southern boundary. Alameda is one of the nine Bay Area counties tributary to San Francisco Bay. Most of the country is mountainous with steep rugged topography. Alameda County is covered by twenty-eight 7.5' topographic Quadrangles which are shown on the index map (alq_quad or Sheet 2). The Quaternary deposits in Alameda...

The paper version of The geology of the Challis 1°x2° quadrangle, was compiled by Fred Fisher, Dave McIntyre and Kate Johnson in 1992. The geology was compiled on a 1:250,000 scale topographic base map. TechniGraphic System, Inc. of Fort Collins Colorado digitized this map under contract for N.Shock. G.Green edited and prepared the Challis digital version for publication as a geographic information system database. The digital geologic map database can be queried in many ways to produce a variety of geologic maps.

This geologic map was prepared as a part of a study of digital methods and techniques as applied to complex geologic maps. The geologic map was digitized from the original scribe sheets used to prepare the published Geologic Map of Colorado (Tweto 1979). Consequently the digital version is at 1:500,000 scale using the Lambert Conformal Conic map projection parameters of the state base map. Stable base contact prints of the scribe sheets were scanned on a Tektronix 4991 digital scanner. The scanner automatically converts the scanned image to an ASCII vector format. These vectors were transferred to a VAX minicomputer, where they were then loaded into ARC/INFO. Each vector and polygon was given attributes derived...

This file contains data for selected significant, buried Quaternary sediments, which is one layer of information on this CD-ROM, USGS Digital Data Series #38 (Soller and Packard, 1998). Together, all layers (10 of them) compose the digital version of a 1:1,000,000- scale map of Quaternary deposits (including both glacial and Holocene sediments) compiled for the glaciated area of the United States east of the Rocky Mountains (that is, the area covered by the Laurentide ice sheets). Parts of southern Ontario, areas beneath the Great Lakes, and parts of the submerged eastern seaboard are also included on the map. The paper version of the map is Soller (1993a, b, 1994, 1998, and in press). The map is a regional synthesis...

This is a polygon coverage of the outcrop of the base of the Wahweap Formation (Upper Cretaceous) east of 112 degrees of longitude. This polygon also represents undivided Tertiary and Cretaceous: Osiris Tuff and Wasatch Fm (Tertiary), Pine Hollow Fm (Tertiary?), Canaan Peak Fm (Tertiary? and Cretaceous), and Kaiparowits and Wahweap Formations (Cretaceous). The northern boundary is delineated by the Paunsaugunt fault and volcanic rocks of Tertiary age.

The area of study for this report is the southern portion of Santa Clara County that lies within the Monterey 30 by 60 minute quadrangle, consisting of parts of the Watsonville East, Chittenden, San Felipe, Three Sisters, and Mariposa Peak 7.5 minute quadrangles. The study involved combining compilation of previous published and unpublished work in the area with new mapping completed in the first half of 1997. The study area makes up a transect of the central California Coast Ranges, starting just east of the San Andreas fault and continuing east across the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Santa Clara Valley, and into the heart of the Diablo Range. The area includes five fault-bounded structural blocks, each containing...

This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of generalized geology in the Green River Basin. This geology shapefile was produced as part of the National Coal Resource Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. This geology can be shown in relation to other relevant themes in the green River Basin.
