This is a coverage of the Colorado Plateau coal assessment study area. The study area outline was drawn on the county lines that most closely outline the coal-bearing rocks in the Colorado Plateau Region. The county outlines originate from a national coverage for which lines were extracted from U.S. Census 1990 TIGER/line files using an AML program written by Nebert, D., and Negri, M., USGS-Water Resources Division (WRD), running on two Data General 6220 servers.

![]() New 1:24,000-scale geologic mapping in the Storm King Mountain7.5' quadrangle, in support of the USGS Western Colorado I-70Corridor Cooperative Geologic Mapping Project, provides new dataon the structure on the south margin of the White River upliftand the Grand Hogback and on the nature, history, anddistribution of surficial geologic units.Rocks ranging from Holocene to Proterozoic in age are shown onthe map. The Canyon Creek Conglomerate, a unit presently knownto only occur in this quadrangle, is interpreted to have beendeposited in a very steep sided local basin formed bydissolution of Pennsylvanian evaporite late in Tertiary time.At the top of the Late Cretaceous Williams Fork Formation is aunit of sandstone,...

This report has been superseded by USGS Miscellaneous Field Studies Map MF-2331.This database of the Silt 7.5 minute quadrangle, originally releasedas U.S Geological Survey Open-File Report 94-696, has been updatedto include a digitized database. The digitized version is alsoidentifed as OFR 94-696. This geologic map was prepared as part ofa study of digital methods and techniques as applied to complexgeologic maps. The geologic map was scanned from the originalgreenline sheets used to prepare the published Open-File map of theSilt quadrangle (Shroba and others, 1994).
This is a shape file and coverage of the top of the Rollins Sandstone Member. It outlines the area underlain by the coal-bearing Cameo/Fairfield coal group in the southern Piceance Basin coal assessment area. Also, it delimits the area within which resources were calculated and reported in the southern Piceance Basin coal assessment area. The polygon was adjusted to match the topography of the DEM.

![]() New 1:24,000-scale geologic mapping in the Silt 7.5' quadrangle,in support of the USGS Western Colorado I-70 Corridor CooperativeGeologic Mapping Project, provides new interpretations of thestratigraphy, structure, and geologic hazards in the area of thesouthwest flank of the White River uplift, the Grand Hogback, andthe eastern Piceance Basin. The Wasatch Formation was subdivided into three formal members, the Shire, Molina, and Atwell Gulch Members. Also a sandstoneunit within the Shire Member was broken out. The Mesaverde Groupconsists of the upper Williams Fork Formation and the lower IlesFormation. Members for the Iles Formation consist of the RollinsSandstone, the Cozzette Sandstone, and the Corcoran SandstoneMembers....
