CASANC - Boundaries for the Monterey Bay, Cordell Bank, and Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuaries
CASANC is a polygon coverage showing the offshore boundaries of the national marine sanctuaries (NMS) off central California: Monterey Bay NMS, Cordell Bank NMS, and Gulf of the Farallones NMS and the adjacent coastline. This is one of a collection of digital files of a geographic information system of spatially referenced data related to the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program "Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Project" . The data were collected and analyzed between 1994 and 2000.
This digital map database, compiled from previously published andunpublished data, and new mapping by the authors, represents thegeneral distribution of bedrock and surficial deposits in the mapped area.Together with the accompanying text file (skmf.txt, skmf.pdf, orskmf.ps), it provides current information on the geologic structure andstratigraphy of the area covered. The database delineates map units thatare identified by general age and lithology following the stratigraphicnomenclature of the U.S. Geological Survey. The scale of the source mapslimits the spatial resolution (scale) of the database to 1:24,000 orsmaller.
Geologic Map of the Monterey and Seaside 7.5-minute Quadrangles, Monterey County, California: A Digital Database
This Open-File report is a digital geologic map database stored in acomputer in the U. S. Geological Survey offices in Menlo Park,California. The study area includes the Monterey Peninsula and partof the Carmel Valley area. Geologically, this region is situatedwithin the complexly deformed Salinian block between the active SanAndreas fault to the northeast and the San Gregorio fault zone tothe southwest. It also is characterized by compressional tectonicsrelated to the San Andreas fault system and includes many poorlyunderstood subsidiary faults (Greene and others, 1988). A seriesof high-angle faults trends northwestward across the quadrangles. Most of the faults in the area are discontinuous, with some lessthan...
Cell maps for each oil and gas play were created by the USGS as a method for illustrating the degree of exploration, type of production, and distribution of production in a play or province. Each cell represents a quarter-mile square of the land surface, and the cells are coded to represent whether the wells included within the cell are predominantly oil-producing, gas-producing, both oil and gas-producing, or dry. The well information was initially retrieved from the Petroleum Information (PI) Well History Control System (WHCS), which is a proprietary, commercial database containing information for most oil and gas wells in the U.S. Cells were developed as a graphic solution to overcome the problem of displaying...
Aeromagnetic data were collected along flight lines by instruments in an aircraft that recorded magnetic-field values and locations. This dataset presents latitude, longitude, altitude, and magnetic-field values.
NET60MIN, NET15MIN, NET7_5MIN - Geographic graticules for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
NET60MIN, NET15MIN, and NET7_5MIN are reference graticules covering the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and adjacent areas at intervals of 1 degree, 15 minutes, and 7.5 minutes, respectively. This is one of a collection of digital files of a geographic information system of spatially referenced data related to the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program "Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Project" . The data were collected and analyzed between 1994 and 2000.
