This tabular data set represents the percent of land cover classes from the 2014 Crop land Data Layer compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data is the "2014 Crop Land Data Layer" produced by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS, 2015). Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network characterizes...

This metadata record presents analytical results for laboratory microcosms conducted during 2016–18 as part of a study to develop a field test and numerical interpretation method to determine the effective diffusion coefficients and sorption coefficients of trichloroethene (TCE) and daughter products in the rock matrix of sedimentary rock, as well as biodegradation rate coefficients in the borehole. The biodegradation rate coefficients in the borehole are an important component of defining the back-diffusion of TCE from the matrix of sedimentary rock. Microcosm experiments were conducted with microbial community samples and groundwater collected from boreholes in the field test area to define anaerobic biodegradation...
This metadata record document contains 7 tables used to assess factors influencing long-term water quality changes in the Gwynns Falls, Baltimore, MD, 1998-2016. Included are daily discharge measurements (source: United States Geological Survey (USGS), 2016), weekly nutrient sampling concentrations (source: Baltimore Ecosystem Study (BES), 2015), and approximately monthly bacteria, ammonia, TKN, and TSS sampling concentrations (source: Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), 2016; Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (DEPS), 2016). Annual loads were calculated for each Gwynns Falls subwatershed from the discharge measurements and sampling concentrations. Green infrastructure...

This metadata record presents geochemical analytical data determined during laboratory experiments and a field pilot test collected during 2008-2010 to evaluate degradation of the cyclic nitramine explosive, hexahydro-1,3,4-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), and perchlorate in a fractured rock aquifer. These experiments were conducted as part of a study to evaluate the feasibility of enhanced bioremediation for treatment of groundwater contaminants at White Sands Missile Range HTA site, New Mexico. Experiments included two anaerobic microcosm experiments, a culture enrichment test, and field injection test with the dechlorinating culture WBC-2. Data includes concentrations of nitrate, ammonium, perchlorate, RDX, and...

This metadata record covers 18 comma delimited files that support the USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2018-5022 Manure and Fertilizer Inputs to Land in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, 1950-2014 by Jennifer Keisman, Olivia Devereux, Andrew LaMotte, Andrew Sekellick, and Joel Blomquist. The data were created by running scenarios through the Chesapeake Bay Program Partnership Phase 5.3.2 Watershed Model for years between 1985 and 2014. Scenarios include data with the reported Best Management Practice (BMP) for each year, as well as scenarios with no BMPs for each year. Data include summaries of the amount of land use change and animal BMPs reported as implemented for each year. Data originated with the Chesapeake...

This dataset was produced by the US Geological Survey as a supporting dataset to be used for the purpose of calculating stream gage basin characteristics in preparation for the South Carolina StreamStats application. This integer raster dataset represents runoff curve numbers for the combinations of hydrological soils groupings and land cover types within the South Carolina StreamStats study area. Soils data are from the USDA, NRCS SSURGO soils database and land cover data are USGS 2019 NLCD data. The dataset will be used in peak flow regression equations that are used to predict flow in South Carolina streams. The StreamStats application provides access to spatial analytical tools that are useful for water-resources...

These data represent input and estimates from a medium-resolution (1:100,000 scale) NHDPlus SPAtially Referenced Regression on Watershed attributes (SPARROW) model for the Chesapeake Bay watershed (CBSS_v2). The model spatially correlates long-term mean annual suspended-sediment flux in 113 non-tidal streams to likely upland and stream-corridor sources, landscape factors affecting upland sediment transport and delivery to stream corridors, and fluvial and reservoir retention representing the early 2000 time period. The item COMID is a common related field between the data file and the spatial component (catchments) in NHDPlus version 1.0.

This metadata record documents 3 sets of comma delimited tables representing the amount of reported best management practice (BMP) implementation within the Chesapeake Bay watershed as well as output data from scenarios of the Chesapeake Bay Program Phase 5.3.2 Watershed Model. The scenario data were used to estimate the effects of BMPs on water quality. The data are organized by three themes (child items below); 1) BMP implementation and definitions, 2) isolation scenarios, and 3) "Progress" and "No Action" scenarios.
Water resources around the world are contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) due to releases from point sources on military installations, fire training centers, and chemical manufacturing sites. Non-point sources have also been identified including wastewater effluent, landfills, and biosolids application. PFAS are a major concern to myriad stakeholders as some are known to bioaccumulate, they have eco-toxicity effects, and they are highly recalcitrant. PFAS are often called “forever chemicals” due to their environmental persistence but many precursor PFAS are transformed in the environment by microbes. Recent work has shown that PFAS can be biologically degraded in laboratory studies, but...

As part of a larger study examining stream conditions and the effect of Best Management Practices in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, thirty small streams on the Delmarva Peninsula were instrumented and monitored for gage height (water level), water temperature, and air temperature using Onset HOBO sensors from March to September 2022. In addition, two discrete discharge measurements were made at baseflow at each site. This data release contains four .csv files with time-series for gage height, water temperature, and air temperature for all thirty monitoring locations and a table of discrete discharge measurements and associated field measurement metadata: Delmarva_2022_Continuous_Air_Temperature.csv Delmarva_2022_Continuous_Gage_Height.csv...

Also included are the input variables required to execute the model, including landscape characteristics, nutrient inputs to land, and calibration data from water quality monitoring stations. Further details on model construction and results are described in Ator (2011, https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20115167).
