This data release documents three Microsoft Excel tables (and corresponding comma separated data files) that contain estimates of tritium in precipitation data for the continental United States. Versions of this data release contain additional tritium data for more recent years. The current version has tritium data through 2022. Table 1 contains estimates of tritium in precipitation for precipitation stations located in the continental United States. Measured precipitation data are formatted in regular font while correlated data are italicized. Table 2 contains tritium in precipitation for ninety-six 2-degree latitude by 5-degree longitude quadrangles covering the continental U.S. Latitudes are north of the equator...

Using publicly available data for Madison and Oneida counties, New York, a series of geospatial overlays were created at 1:24,000 scale to examine the bedrock geology, groundwater table, soils, and surficial geology. Bedrock and surficial geology were refined using extant bedrock maps, well and borehole data from water- and gas-wells, soil data, and lidar data. Groundwater data were collected from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and U.S. Geological Survey water-well databases to estimate the groundwater table. Soil data were used to examine soil thickness over bedrock and infiltration. An inventory of closed depressions was created using reconditioned lidar-derived bare-earth digital elevation...

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Digitized field boundaries were used to locate crops for in situ verification once in 2022; crop verification occurred on June 2nd. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program County Mosaic 2021 imagery for Arizona and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collections accessed via the Sentinel Hub, Sentinel Playground (https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/sentinel-playground). Satellite images were also used to identify the length of the growing season and crop condition. Water withdrawals were calculated using the modified Blaney-Criddle model of...

This tabular data set represents the percent of land cover classes in the riparian zone from the 2019 edition of the National Land Cover databases for the years 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016 and 2019 compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2.1 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. These databases can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data is the "National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 2019 Products (ver. 2.0, June 2021)" databases for the years 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016, and 2019 produced by the...

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Sacramento Valley Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ once in 2022 on May 31st; based on digitized field boundaries. Water withdrawals were calculated using the modified Blaney-Criddle model of calculating consumptive use (U.S. Bureau...

In 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the National Park Service(NPS), initiated a study using surrogate technology to predict real-time metallic-contaminant concentrations (MCCs) in the Clark Fork at two USGS streamgages that bracket Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site (GRKO) near Deer Lodge, Montana. Clark Fork at Deer Lodge (streamgage 12324200), Mont., about one mile upstream from GRKO, and Clark Fork above Little Blackfoot River near Garrison (streamgage 12324400), Mont., about 12 miles downstream from GRKO property were instrumented with turbidity and acoustic sensors for monitoring the Clark Fork during NPS Superfund remediation activities. Time-series data from backscatter signals...

This USGS data release contains 7Q10 and 30Q10 [lowest annual 7-day and 30-day average streamflow that occurs (on average) once every 10 years] statistics at 292 USGS streamgages in or adjacent to New York State excluding Long Island. all_sites_wstats.csv - includes 7Q10 and 30Q10 values for all sites and includes information on results from the trend analysis and which sites have daily exceedance probability values available. site_regulated_7day_exc_perc#.csv and site_regulated_30day_exc_perc#.csv files include daily exceedance probability values for all altered sites that were not suitable for calculating low flow statistics. R scripts used to compile and screen streamgage datasets of daily flow, perform...

Crops were verified in situ twice in 2021, first on May 19th and again on September 1st; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program images dated 2021 and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collections accessed via the Sentinel Hub, Sentinel Playground (https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/sentinel-playground). Satellite images were also used to identify the length of the growing season and crop condition. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Mission Area (WMA) is working to address a need to understand where the Nation is experiencing water shortages or surpluses relative to the demand for water need by delivering routine assessments of water supply and demand. It is also improving understanding of the natural and human factors affecting the balance between supply and demand. A key part of these national assessments is identifying long-term trends in water availability, including groundwater and surface water quantity, quality, and use. To describe the long-term trends in the surface water quality component of water availability, data from the USGS and other Federal, State, and local agencies were accessed primarily...
