We assessed the resilience of wetlands to sea-level rise along a transitional gradient from tidal freshwater forested wetland (TFFW) to oligohaline marsh by measuring processes controlling wetland elevation. We identified fundamental differences in how resilience is maintained across wetland community types, which have important implications for management activities that aim to restore or conserve resilient systems.

Boiling River at Mammoth (YBOI), Yellowstone National Park Sample Collection: Samples were collected near the USGS stream gage 06190540 (Latitude 44°59'05.83", Longitude 110°41'18.20" NAD83). At the time of collection, all waters samples were filtered through a syringe filter (0.45-micrometer). Two splits of the filtered water were retained for chemical analyses, including an unacidified (FU) sample for determination of anion concentrations and a nitric acid preserved (FA; 1% volume-to-volume concentrated trace-metal grade nitric acid) sample for cation and trace metal analyses. During sample collection, the water temperature, specific conductance, and pH were often measured. Sample Analyses: Concentrations...

These data sets present results from the analyses of groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells and monitoring intervals in bedrock wells in the mudstone aquifer underlying the former Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), West Trenton, NJ. The water samples were collected between 2008 and 2013 and were analyzed for field parameters, inorganic and organic constituents, and the abundances of selected microbes of importance to the evaluation of biological degradation of organic contaminants in groundwater. The collection and analyses of the groundwater samples coincides with conducting a bioaugmentation experiment in a targeted region of the mudstone aquifer. The purpose of the bioaugmentation was to introduce...

This inventory was originally created by the Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, El Salvador (2001) describing the landslides triggered by the M 7.7 San Miguel, El Salvador earthquake that occurred on 13 January 2001 at 17:33:32 UTC. Care should be taken when comparing with other inventories because different authors use different mapping techniques. This inventory also could be associated with other earthquakes such as aftershocks or triggered events. Please check the author methods summary and the original data source for more information on these details and to confirm the viability of this inventory for your specific use. With the exception of the data from USGS sources, the inventory data and...

Care should be taken when comparing with other inventories because different authors use different mapping techniques. This inventory includes landslides triggered by a sequence of earthquakes rather than a single mainshock. Please check the author methods summary and the original data source for more information on these details and to confirm the viability of this inventory for your specific use. The success of Gulf Coast restoration efforts hinge on partners sharing a common vision for conservation framed by explicit biological objectives for specific conservation targets. However, specific and explicit biological objectives that quantify what it means to actually share a common vision remain undefined. Therefore, this project’s goal is to develop explicit biological objectives for a common suite of conservation targets representative of sustainable Gulf habitats across the four Gulf Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs)(i.e., Gulf Coast Prairie, Gulf Coastal Plains & Ozarks, Peninsular Florida, and South Atlantic) and, for a subset of those species, to use Bayesian Network models to link these biological...

These data are supplementary to the journal article Bassiouni, M., Scholl, M.A., Torres-Sanchez, A.J., Murphy, S.F., 2017, A Method for Quantifying Cloud Immersion in a Tropical Mountain Forest Using Time-Lapse Photography, Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.agrformet.2017.04.010. The data set includes cloud immersion frequency, mean temperature, relative humidity and dew point depression values for five sites, representing Figures 7a and 7b in the article, and values used to calculate the averages shown in Table 2. The results cover the time period from March 2014 to May 2016. A list of validation image filenames with their classifications and the set of 7360 validation images for...

This dataset describes the storm event mean concentrations and loads of total and dissolved forms of phosphorus and nitrogen from paired samples collected in the control and test catchment during the calibration and treatment phase of a leaf removal study in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. Samples were collected in spring 2013 through fall 2015 and are parsed by season where spring represents April – May, summer represents June – September and fall represents October – November. Measured weather parameters for each sampled storm event are also described. These data are interpreted in a journal article published in Science of the Total Environment.

The Gulf Coast Vulnerability Assessment (GCVA) used an expert opinion approach to qualitatively assess the vulnerability of four ecosystems: mangrove, oyster reef, tidal emergent marsh, and barrier islands, and a suite of wildlife species that depend on them. More than 50 individuals participated in the completion of the GCVA, facilitated via Ecosystem and Species Expert Teams. The GCVA made use of the Standardized Index of Vulnerability and Value Assessment (SIVVA) (Reece and Noss 2014) to provide an objective framework for evaluating vulnerability by guiding assessors through a series of questions related to the changes an ecosystem or species might experience due to climate change and other threats. Assessors...
