This feature contains a spatial representation of streams and stream segments with water quality information from Oregon’s 2010 Integrated Report Assessment Database and 303(d) List as approved by EPA on March 15, 2012. This feature should be used in conjunction with the feature ORLakesWaterQuality_2010. A water body may have assessment information for multiple pollutants or conditions, and may have multiple data records associated with the spatial representation of the water body or segment of the water body. Oregon’s 2010 Integrated Report Assessment Database and 303(d) List are available on-line at http://www.deq.state.or.us/wq/assessment/rpt2010/search.asp. The on-line searchable database should be used...

Oregon Fish Habitat Distribution These data describe areas of suitable habitat believed to be used currently by wild, natural, and/or hatchery fish populations. The term "currently" is defined as within the past five reproductive cycles. This information is based on sampling, the best professional opinion of Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife or other natural resources agency staff biologists or modeling (see the fhdBasis field). Due to natural variations in run size, water conditions, or other environmental factors, some habitats identified may not be used annually. These data now comply with the Oregon Fish Habitat Distribution Data Standard that was adopted by the Oregon Geographic Information Council in March,...

National Land Cover Database 2001 (NLCD2001) is a 16-class (additional four classes in Alaska only) land cover classification scheme that has been applied consistently across all 50 United States and Puerto Rico at a spatial resolution of 30 meters. NLCD2001 is based primarily on the unsupervised classification of Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper+ (ETM+) circa 2001 satellite data. NLCD2001 improves on NLCD92 in that it is comprised of three different elements: land cover, percent developed impervious surface and percent tree canopy density. NLCD2001 also uses improved classification algorithms, which have resulted in data with more precise rending of spatial boundaries between the land cover classes.

The Western Governor’s Wildlife Council defines “crucial habitat” as places containing the resources (including food, water, cover, shelter and important wildlife corridors) that are necessary for the survival and reproduction of aquatic and terrestrial wildlife and to prevent unacceptable declines, or facilitate future recovery of, wildlife populations; or are important ecological systems with high biological diversity value. The Compiled Crucial Habitat layer can be used to determine areas containing high priority crucial habitat results throughout this analysis. This layer is a result of aggregating all crucial habitat input layers, and can provide an initial overview of whether an area contains crucial...

Prioritizes areas based on fish species that are most susceptible to major affects from development, including those species that rely on extensive migratory routes and species endemic and rate within Oregon. See http://www.dfw.state.or.us/maps/compass/md_aquatic_species.asp for detailed documentaion of this layer.

The Oregon Fish Passage Barrier Data Standard (OFPBDS) dataset contains barriers to fish passage in Oregon watercourses. Barriers include the following types of natural or artificial structures: bridges, cascades, culverts, dams, debris jams, fords, natural falls, tide gates, and weirs. The OFPBDS dataset does not include structures which are not associated with in-stream features (such as dikes, levees or berms). Barriers are structures which do, or potentially may, impede fish movement and migration. Barriers can be known to cause complete or partial blockage to fish passage, or they can be completely passable, or they may have an unknown passage status. The third publication of the OFPBDS dataset (Version 3)...

NLCD (2006) http://www.mrlc.gov/nlcd06_leg.php was clipped to a 400 ft buffer of Rogue River (using NHD Plus streams layer). Raster was converted to vector data and classified according to the classification legend provided on the NLCD web site.

These watersheds were chosen because they are the most important subwatersheds for salmon recovery and in the most need of restoration actions to improve aquatic habitat.
