The North American Atlas – Basin Watersheds data set shows watersheds in North America at 1:10,000,000. A watershed is an area encompassing part or all of a surface drainage basin, a combination of drainage basins, or a distinct hydrologic feature. Watersheds are mapped in a hierarchical system, with the largest units encompassing the entire drainage areas of major rivers or river systems, or encompassing seaboard areas. Within these large units, subsequently smaller units encompass the drainage areas of smaller rivers and streams. Watersheds are classified differently in Canada, Mexico and the United States; the data set includes a continental classification (the North American Watershed, or NAW level), as...

The DART system consists of a bottom pressure recorder (BPR) located on the sea floor capable of detecting a tsunami as small as 1 centimeter high on the ocean surface. A discus-shaped buoy, 2.5 meters in diameter, on the ocean surface is moored at a position close enough to receive data via acoustic link from the BPR. After receiving data from the BPR, the surface buoy relays the information via the NOAA Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) system to ground stations. The ground stations demodulate the signals and disseminate information to NOAA Tsunami Warning Centers (TWC) and the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. TWCs use the data in real time to decide what U.S. coastal communities...

Annual average wind resource potential for the state of New Mexico, United States at a 50 meter height. This data set has been validated by NREL and wind energy meteorological consultants. However, the data is not suitable for micro-siting potential development projects. This shapefile was generated from a raster dataset with a 200 m resolution, in a UTM zone 12, datum WGS 84 projection system.
This is a shapefile of all California Counties with 2010 Census detailed population data (Census table P3). The true field headings for the Census data can be found in the metadata under attributes as the ones in the table can be abbreviated or truncated.

The National Marine Sanctuary Program manages a system of sanctuaries and other managed areas around the country. The legal boundaries of Thesee sanctuaries are defined within the Code of Federal Regulations, at 15 C.F.R. Part 922 and the subparts for each national marine sanctuary. The GIS compatible digital boundary files for each national marine sanctuary are representations of those legal boundaries and are based on the best available data. These files are available for public use at locations defined in this metadata record.

The Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination Group, or GeoMAC, is an internet-based mapping tool originally designed for fire managers to access online maps of current fire locations and perimeters in the conterminous 48 states and Alaska. Perimeters are submitted to GeoMAC by field offices and then posted to an FTP site for downloading. This file contains fire perimeters submitted from the year 2001 to 2009. The projection is geographic and the datum is NAD83. Last updated in November, 2010.

This data set consist of digital data describing (ACEC) Areas of Critical and Environmental Concern for Public Lands in the State of Colorado. ACECs are designated by decisions made during BLM Resource Management Planning. Existing ACECs have a Resouce value tied to them. An example of these resources would be: Threatened and Endangered Plants. Other areas of concern have also been captured within this theme. When the users opens up the attribute table for this theme the user will notice ACEC follows most of names for each area. Some BLM field offices also included RNAs and ONAs with in their layer. ONAs are... Outstanding Natural Areas and RNAs are... Research Natural Area The data set was compiled from the most...
This layer represents Private Conservation Lands from the Protected Areas Database of the US (PADUS). Part of the GAP Analysis, PADUS is a geodatabase that illustrates and describes public land ownership, managment and consercationlands nationally. The lands included are assigned conservation measures that qualify thier intent to mangae lands for the presercation of biological diversity and to other natural, recreational, and cultural uses.

Green River Basin boundary. From the National Coal Resource Assessment. The assessment identifies and characterizes the coal beds and coal zones that will provide the bulk of the Nation's coal-derived energy during the next few decades.
This layer represents areas which have been proposed (per the requirements of Section 368 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005) as West-wide energy corridors for the final "Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement, Designation of Energy Corridors on Federal Land in the 11 Western States", November 2008. The layer was intersected with surface management agency, BLM field office, and state layers to add more tabular attributes.

The main objective of this project was to develop a dataset of large, anthropogenic barriers that are spatially linked to the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) for the conterminous U.S. and the high resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) for Alaska (1:63,000 scale) and Hawaii (1:24,000 scale) to facilitate GIS analyses based on the NHDPlusV1/NHD and NID datasets. To meet this objective, Michigan State University conducted a spatial linkage of the point dataset of the 2009 National Inventory of Dams (NID) created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to the NHDPlusV1/NHD. The pool of dam data included were modified based on 1) dam removals that occurred after development of the...

The National Conservation Easement Database (NCED) is a collaborative venture to compile easement records (both spatial and tabular) from land trusts and public agencies throughout the United States in a single, up-to-date, sustainable, GIS compatible, online source. The goal of the NCED is to provide a comprehensive picture of conservation easement lands, recognizing their contribution to America's natural heritage, a vibrant economy, and healthy communities. Conservation easements are legal agreements voluntarily entered into between landowners and conservation entities (agencies or land trusts) for the express purpose of protecting certain societal values such as open space or vital wildlife habitats. In some...

This map layer includes agricultural minerals operations in the United States. The data represent commodities covered by the Minerals Information Team (MIT) of the U.S. Geological Survey. The mineral operations are plants and (or) mines surveyed by the MIT and considered currently active in 2003. This is a replacement for the June 2004 map layer.
