Landscape conservation cooperatives (LCCs) are conservation-science partnerships between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and other federal agencies, states, tribes, NGOs, universities and stakeholders within a geographically defined area. They inform resource management decisions to address national-scale stressors-including habitat fragmentation, genetic isolation, spread of invasive species, and water scarcity-all of which are accelerated by climate change.

The region within the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative (Gulf Coast Prairie LCC) faces many challenges that threaten both wildlife and their habitat within this diverse landscape. The once extensive grassland system has been impacted by urban and agricultural development. Large river systems struggle to maintain watershed integrity and base flows. Coastal systems fight the effects of reduced freshwater inflows. Other threats, such as climate change, pollution, invasive species and disease, also put a strain on native species and habitats.
The Great Plains Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GPLCC, http://www.greatplainslcc.org/) is a partnership that provides applied science and decision support tools to assist natural resource managers conserve plants, fish and wildlife in the mid- and short-grass prairie of the southern Great Plains. It is part of a national network of public-private partnerships — known as Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs, http://www.fws.gov/science/shc/lcc.html) — that work collaboratively across jurisdictions and political boundaries to leverage resources and share science capacity. The Great Plains LCC identifies science priorities for the region and helps foster science that addresses these priorities to support wildlife...

This project supported a bi-national workshop bringing together researchers and practitioners from across the range of the NPLCC. The workshop was hosted by Simon Fraser University in Greater Vancouver February 24-26, 2014 and furthered the work of the two previous workshops on transboundary data and analysis hosted by the Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center in Juneau.

These SEVEN geographic areas represent the general landscapes to be used for Strategic Habitat Conservaton in the Pacific Southwest Region of US Fish and Wildlife Service. These areas are generally based on Bailey's ecoregions as updated by the US Forest Service. Bailey's ecoregions distinguish areas that share common climatic and vegetation characteristics. These geographic areas represented by these landscapes generally represent the "section" or finest level of detail in Bailey's ecoregions. The most divergence from Bailey's occurs in the Klamath Basin region where the Klamath Basin landscape is more closely aligned with the USGS hydrological unit boundaries of that landscape. Some areas that generally would...
