Located in the northern tropical Pacific Ocean, Majuro is the capital of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Majuro Atoll consists of a large, narrow landmass and a set of smaller perimeter islands surrounding a lagoon that is over 100 square miles in size. The waters surrounding the Majuro Atoll land areas are relatively shallow with poorly mapped bathymetry. However, the Pacific Ocean on the exterior of the coral atoll and the lagoon within its interior consist of deep bathymetry with steep slopes. The highest elevation of the Majuro Atoll is estimated at only 3-meters above sea level, which is the island community of Laura located on the western part of the atoll. At the eastern edge of the atoll lies the capital...

Daily streamflow and reservoir water elevation data for modeled locations in the Red River Basin. Values reported are for 18 different GCM (Global Climate Model) / RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) / GDM Downscaling scenarios. Climate data from each scenario was input into a Variable Infiltration Capacity (VIC) model, that output flow values. These values were then input into RiverWare, to determine the impacts on regulated flows, lake levels and water availability. RiverWare was used for this project, because of its ability to simulate water use, reservoir operations, and local/interstate regulations.

The Cook Inlet Planning Area includes and abuts productive commercial, subsistence, and sport fishing grounds. Outer continental shelf minerals exploration, development and production activities could affect the productivity of these fisheries, the quality of recreation opportunities, and the demand for tourism-related services. The marine sport fisheries of lower and central Cook Inlet are the focus of a large recreation based economic sector that provides non-monetary benefits to participants and monetary benefits to tourism-related businesses. This study and a companion study, Lee et al. [1999b], develop a predictive model of participation rate changes that can be linked to a regional inputoutput model to estimate...

PURPOSE: The provision of expanded visitor facilities and recreational opportunities in the south Denali region of Denali Park, Alaska is proposed. The plan would government management of the area until the year 2020. Over the past 20 years, general growth in the tourism industry statewide has brought more pressure for access to Alaska's wild lands. Visitation to the South Denali region has increased substantially in recent years and expanded recreational opportunities are needed. Three alternatives, including a No Action Alternative (Alternative A), which would support the 1997 Record of Decision for the South Side Denali Development Concept Plan and represent no change from the current policy, are considered in...
