This data set includes the relative production scenarios for bufflaograss [0.72(Temp) - 0.12(Precip) - 0.04(Sand) + 3.08]; this is the model from Epstein, et al. (1998). Soil texture (percent by weight) came from the Earth Systems Science Center (2008) which provided processed soils data from NRCS (gSSURGO), mean annual temperature (Celsius) and/or mean annual precipitation (millimeters) came from contemporary (1981 - 2010) estimates (Maurer et al. 2002) or a GCM. The objective of this work is to delineate areas in the Upper Mississippi River System where the combined effects of water clarity and water level fluctuation conditions are not limiting the establishment and persistence of submersed aquatic vegetation. We note that other factors, such as herbivory or high current velocity may actively prevent establishment of submersed aquatic vegetation in areas of the Upper Mississippi River System, and that this analysis is based on physical constraints imposed by water clarity and water level fluctuation only. The U.S. Virgin Islands 2007 land cover, created as part of the USVIGAP analysis project supported by the USGS, is a forty-nine class land cover classification. The USVIGAP land cover is based primarily on the unsupervised classification of five Earth Observing 1 (EO-1) Advanced Land Imager (ALI) scenes acquired in 2007. The ALI scenes were processed, segmented into geoclimatic zones and classified individually. This dataset, created in support of USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2020-5075, Estimates of Groundwater Discharge by Evapotranspiration, Stump Spring and Hiko Springs, Clark County, Nevada, 2016-18, represents a Normalized Difference Vegetation Index calculated for vegetated areas in the Hiko Springs groundwater discharge area. Vegetated areas within the GDA are composed of phreatophytic shrubs interspersed with xeric vegetation and bare soil. Potentially suitable habitat for the American burying beetle (Nicrophorus americanus) was identified within the Southern Plains. The American burying beetle (ABB) is listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, but in 2019 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to reclassify this species as threatened. We applied a deductive model for the ABB that identified potentially suitable habitat using LANDFIRE Existing Vegetation Types (EVT). This layer depicts the status, or degree of disturbance, to plant communities on the main Hawaiian Islands. Several layers were uset to create this version (v 3.4). The original HabQual layer was developed by Jon Price and Jim Jacobi based on the mapped land cover units from the Hawaii GAP analysis program (Gon et al. 2006). This map was revised by combining data on land use and the “Bare” category from the NOAA C-CAP 2005 map (NOAA National Ocean Service Coastal Services Center 2012), and adding road corridors to the heavily disturbed category based on the Tiger Roads layer (United States Census Bureau 2014).
