Data on 17 metrics of shale gas development in the Pennsylvania portion of the Upper Susquehanna River basin that was collated from a variety of sources and summarized at the upstream catchment scale. Data were also standardized by upstream area and transformed into rank scores based on metric distribution and then summarized into a Disturbance Intensity Index (DII). This dataset consists of data collected at Badlands National Park (Interior, SD) that were used in the analysis in support of the article titled "Conserving all the pollinators: Variation in probability of pollen transport among insect taxa," which has been submitted to "Natural Areas Journal." Data collected between May-October, 2010 and 2011, and June-July 2012 included insects found in contact with floral reproductive parts of focal plant species, or plant species within a 1 ha plot surrounding focal plant, and pollen species removed from the collected insects' bodies. The Yellowknife Study Area (YSA),Northwest Territories, Canada, was established in 1961 by H. W. Murdy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, for the study of wetland and waterfowl ecology. The study area is located on the western edge of the Precambrian Shield and edge of the taiga and is recognized for its high wetland densities and waterfowl abundance. The region is underlain by discontinuous, warm permafrost and hence vulnerable to a warming climate. The completion of Highway 3 in early 1960s provided the first access to the region for development, research, and monitoring. Sediment cores were collected in Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in November, 2017 to advance understanding of climate- and land-management driven changes in vegetation, hydrology, and fire regimes. Radiocarbon dates were obtained from samples in two cores (GDS-519-3-21-2017 and GDS-520-3-21-2017) to generate age models for the cores. Bulk sediment samples, charcoal, plant macrofossils, and pollen residue were selected at the USGS in Reston, Virginia and submitted to Beta Analytic, Inc. and the National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (NOSAMS) laboratories for radiocarbon dating. As harmful algal blooms (HABs) increase in magnitude and duration worldwide, they are becoming an expanding threat to marine wildlife. Over the past decade, domoic acid (DA) and saxitoxin (STX) have been increasingly problematic bicoastally in the United States. We investigated pooled seabird mortality data from opportunistic sampling events between 2007-2018, across three states, to examine the patterns and role of DA and STX in seabird mortality events from the continental United States. Most of these data were collected in order to create a database of tree locations for use in calibrating remote sensing tools and products, particularly dead tree detection tools and canopy species maps. Data include tree locations, species identification, and status (live, dead, and, if dead, sometimes includes information on foliage and twig retention). They are a collection of different sampling efforts performed over several years, starting in a period of severe drought mortality.
