The purpose of this data set is support resource allocation decisions (i.e. where to invest conservation effort) within the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative. It represents a relative ranking of HUC12 watersheds according to the quantity and quality of habitat as described in the GCPO LCC’s draft Integrated Science Agenda (v4). Watersheds (HUC12) were ranked by the presence, quantity and quality of the Tidal Marsh habitat system (includes brackish and saltwater marsh) within the 5 sub-geographies of the GCPO LCC region. Once ranked, watersheds were classified (e.g., “Top 10%”) based on the proportion of the total Tidal Marsh area (current + potential) contained within the watershed....
The Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team (FHTET) was created by the Deputy Chief for State and Private Forestry in February 1995 to develop and deliver forest health technology services to field personnel in public and private organizations in support of the Forest Service’s land ethic, to “promote the sustainability of ecosystems by ensuring their health, diversity, and productivity.” This dataset shows the total basal area of all tree species as square feet per acre. For more information: http://www.fs.fed.us/foresthealth/technology/nidrm2012.shtml

Description of condition index value scores for estuarine tidal marsh along and within 10 km of the GCPO LCC Gulf Coast subgeography. A series of raster calculations were used in a dichotomous decision-based framework to compile a per-pixel draft condition index value at a 10 m resolution for GCPO estuarine tidal marsh based on the number of configuration and condition endpoints met within each marsh pixel. Pixels not identified as a estuarine marsh but that were identified as having the potential to be marsh were given a score of 1, provided the pixels were not classified as developed. Potential estuarine tidal marsh pixels were derived from a combination of potential estuarine tidal marsh classes in the Landfire...

This dataset was last updated February 2017. This version incorporates a revised version of the land cover classification, Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Map (DSLland), Version 3.1 developed by the University of Massachusetts, which included the addition of The Nature Conservancy’s Northeast lakes and ponds classification. The Blackpoll Warbler (Setophaga striata) is a small, migratory songbird that breeds in the northern coniferous forests of Alaska and Canada, with a range barely extending into northern New England and New York. It has been chosen to represent the habitat needs of other species of wildlife that also use boreal coniferous forests, particularly montane forests. This dataset depicts the potential...

This dataset is a component of a complete package of products from the Connect the Connecticut project. Connect the Connecticut is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conserving the Connecticut River Watershed for future generations, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural ecosystems they inhabit. Click here to download the full data package, including all documentation. This dataset depicts the potential capability of the landscape throughout the CT River Watershed to provide habitat for Blackpoll Warbler (Setophaga striata) based on environmental conditions existing in approximately 2010. Landscape capability integrates factors influencing climate suitability, habitat...
This indicator is an index of habitat suitability for twelve upland hardwood and forested wetland bird species based on patch size and other ecosystem characteristics such as proximity to water and proximity to forest and ecotone edge.Reason for SelectionThis index represents a variety of ecosystem features and is already being modeled and monitored for the entire region by the Atlantic Coast Joint Venture. The needs of these forest bird species are increasingly restrictive at higher index values, reflecting better quality habitat.Input Data– Southeast GAP species models:Chuck-will’s widow (bCWWI)Red-headed woodpecker (bRHWO)Wood Thrush (bWOTH)Whip-poor-will (bWPWI)American Woodcock (bAMWO)Hooded Warbler (bHOWA)Kentucky...

This indicator is a continuous index of highly productive areas for birds that feed exclusively or mainly at sea. It uses seasonal predictions of relative abundance for sixteen species of marine birds. Note: This indicator is at a 200 m resolution, which is coarser than other indicators used in the 2020 Blueprint.Reason for SelectionMarine birds help identify key areas of ocean productivity and overall ocean health, are regularly monitored, and resonate with a variety of audiences. This indicator complements the marine mammal index by providing finer spatial resolution and stronger connections to forage fish productivity.Input Data– Blueprint 2.1 ecosystem map (see Appendix A)– Potential species to include in this...
This indicator measures the number of aquatic species within each watershed that are listed as G1 (globally critically imperiled), G2 (globally imperiled), or threatened/endangered under the U.S. Endangered Species Act.Reason for SelectionThis indicator identifies areas with abundant rare and endemic aquatic species that would benefit from conservation actions. It captures patterns of rare and endemic species diversity not well-represented by other freshwater indicators.Input Data– Estimated Floodplain Map of the Conterminous U.S. from the EPA EnviroAtlas (see this factsheet for more information)– [National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2] (http://www.horizon-systems.com/NHDPlus/NHDPlusV2_home.php) (NHD Plus...

Lidar-derived digital elevation models often contain a vertical bias due to vegetation. In areas with tidal influence the amount of bias can be ecologically significant, for example, by decreasing the expected inundation frequency. We generated a corrected digital elevation mode (DEM) for tidal marsh areas around San Francisco Bay using the Lidar Elevation Adjustment with NDVI (LEAN) technique (Buffington et al. 2016). Survey-grade GPS survey data (6614 points), NAIP-derived Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, and original 1 m lidar DEM from 2010 were used to generate a model of predicted bias across tidal marsh areas. The predicted bias was then subtracted from the original lidar DEM and merged with the NOAA...

This data represents areas of forest damage due to insect infestation, fire, flood, landslides, windthrow and other mortalities. The information was collected by aerial surveys by both the USFS and ADNR, Div. of Forestry in cooperation with the Forest Health Protection (FHP) project. Surveys are conducted in July and August so that pest "signatures" may be obtained during the optimal period for symptom development of ocular estimation. The aerial survey is coordinated with known pest outbreaks so that the maximum extent of recent bark beetle damage (fading trees) and insect defoliation (discoloration, foliage loss) patterns may be determined. Aerial survey flights are termed as "local" if they can be completed within...

This dataset shows modelled habitat suitability for the American Beaver (Castor canadensis) under current and projected future conditions. We built habitat suitability models for 237 bird, 117 mammal, and 12 amphibian species. Species were chosen for inclusion in the study based on a simple set of criteria. For a species to be included in the study, it had to be primarily associated with terrestrial habitats, have a digital map of its current range, and have some portion of its current distribution intersect with the study area extent. In addition, we restricted the list of species used in the study to those for which a well-performing continental-scale model could be built. Digital species range maps were converted...

1:100K Distribution of Oregon Anadromous Salmon and Steelhead habitat obtained from ODFW for use in the Western Oregon Plan Revision (WOPR) Proposed Resource Management Plan (PRMP). These data describe areas of suitable habitat believed to be used (currently and historically) by wild, natural, and/or hatchery fish populations. The term "currently" is defined as within the past five reproductive cycles. See the 'USETYPE' field description to differentiate between current and historic distribution. This information is based on extensive surveys, the best professional judgment of ODFW staff biologists and where possible, the professional opinions of staff from other natural resource agencies. Due to natural variations...
