Habitat selection studies can make important contributions to habitat prioritization efforts for species of conservation concern. We present a large-scale collaborative effort to develop habitat selection models for Greater Sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) across large landscapes (Wyoming, USA) and multiple seasons. Greater Sage-grouse are limited to western semi-arid landscapes in North America, range-wide population declines have been documented, and the species is currently listed a “warranted but precluded” from listing under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. Wyoming is predicted to remain a stronghold for Sage-grouse populations and contains approximately 37% of the remaining birds. We developed Resource...

Hydroacoustic (sonar) data were collected for the Mississippi, St. Croix, and Minnesota Rivers for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. Small areas containing priority mussel habitat had additional collection efforts to map water velocities and bottom composition. Combining these data in a GIS can provide key components to characterizing physical benthic habitat for native mussels in a riverine environment. This information is highly desired by the National Park Service to more accurately assess environmental factors that influence native mussel distribution. The collaborative effort was funded by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) Environment and Natural...

The Puerto Rico 2000 land cover, created as part of the Puerto Rico GAP Analysis project supported by the USGS, is a seventy-class land cover classification. The PRGAP land cover is based primarily on the unsupervised classification of eighteen Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper + (ETM+) scenes acquired from 1999 - 2003. The Landsat 7 scenes were separated into wet and dry season imagery, mosaiced, and segmented based on geo-climatic zones. The land cover was created through the use of the spectral information derived from the satellite imagery and ancillary data such as geology, topography, hydrology and land use history. The Puerto Rico GAP 2000 land cover product represents the first time a 15 meter spatial resolution...
