Raster dataset showing saturated thickness (in feet) of the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, June 1 - November 30, 2008 (hereafter defined as "fall"). Saturated thickness values based on water levels measured in the study area and median lake level at John Martin Reservoir during this time period. Surface interpolations for water-table altitude were done using Inverse Distance Weighting using coordinate and altitude data from "Wells and water-level altitude in the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, Spring and Fall 2002, 2008, and 2015" (see cross reference section in metadata), and surface interpolation of bedrock was done using Topo to Raster using elevation...

![]() To evaluate the influence of military training activities on streamflow and water quality, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of the Army, began a hydrologic data collection network on the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Carson in 1978 and on the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site in 1983. This report is a summary and characterization of the precipitation, streamflow, and water-quality data collected at 43 sites between October 1, 2012, and September 30, 2014 (water years 2013 and 2014).Variations in the frequency of daily precipitation, seasonal distribution, and seasonal and annual precipitation at 5 stations at the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Carson and 18 stations at or near the Piñon Canyon Maneuver...

Data release containing geospatial data and metadata for select hydrogeologic characteristics of the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, 2002, 2008, and 2015. This data release accompanies U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 3378 (https://doi.org/10.3133/sim3378). Geospatial datasets and metadata include: - Rasters showing estimated thickness of the alluvium; fall-to-fall and spring-to-spring water-table altitude change, 2002 to 2008, 2008 to 2015, and 2002 - 2015; and estimated saturated thickness in the alluvium, fall and spring 2002, 2008, and 2015. - Shapefiles showing bedrock contours underlying the alluvium; the outline of the study area and John Martin Reservoir...

This raster dataset shows the thickness of the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado. The bottom boundary defined by bedrock (Hurr and Moore, 1972; Nelson and others, 1989a, b, c) and top boundary defined by land surface from U.S. Geological Survey National Elevation Dataset (2016). All interpolation and geoprocessing was completed in ArcGIS Desktop v10 (Environmental Systems Research Institute, 2011).

![]() The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District measures groundwater levels periodically in about 100 wells completed in the alluvial material of the Arkansas River Valley in Pueblo, Crowley, Otero, Bent, and Prowers Counties in southeastern Colorado, of which 95 are used for the analysis in this report. The purpose of this report is to provide information to water-resource administrators, managers, planners, and users about groundwater characteristics in the alluvium of the lower Arkansas Valley extending roughly 150 miles between Pueblo Reservoir and the Colorado-Kansas State line. This report includes three map sheets showing (1) bedrock altitude at the base...

Points representing locations of wells in which water levels were measured, and values of water-level altitudes above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 for June 1 to November 30 (hereafter defined as "fall") and December 1 to May 31 (hereafter defined as "spring"), 2002, 2008, and 2015 in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeastern Colorado. Water-level values, John Martin Reservoir lake levels, and land surface altitudes at monitoring wells were gathered from the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System (NWIS) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. All geoprocessing was done using ArcGIS Desktop v10 (Environmental Systems Research Institute, 2011).
