The Preliminary Digital Geologic Map of the Buffalo 30' x 60' shows the geologic and structural features within the Buffalo quadrangle. It is a scanned and vectorized version of the paper geologic map series developed by the Wyoming Geological Survey, which provides basic geologic information superimposed on a metric topographic base. The base includes topographic contours at 20 meter (65.6 feet) intervals and a township and range grid which is divided into miles (sections). Cultural features including towns, cities, unimproved roads, highways, railroads, and powerlines are also included, as are major streams, drainages, and lakes. The area includes one-half degree of latitude and one degree longitude and totals approximately 1810 square miles. Features are named and geologic map units (based on the rock types present) are superimposed in color along with map unit symbols in order to relate the geology to the base map and topography. The completed digital map, represented in color with background features similar to the paper is available in a postscript file format. It is a STATEMAP product.
