Summary

In 2013, the first of several Regional Stream Quality Assessments (RSQA) was done in the Midwest United States. The Midwest Stream Quality Assessment (MSQA) was a collaborative study by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA), the USGS Columbia Environmental Research Center, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA). Purpose

This dataset was created to support the MSQA objectives (correlations with and effects of stressors; see Abstract) and was developed using the geospatial data for the location of the water-chemistry sites, delineations of areas draining to the sites (watershed boundaries), and riparian-zone boundaries defined from buffers along digitized riparian reaches (Nakagaki and others, 2016). The physical and anthropogenic characteristics in this dataset assist with the statistical analyses and interpretation of stream water-quality and biota data collected for the MSQA study.
