This dataset was created to locate source populations of quail in the West Gulf Coastal Plain. The values in this raster depict the number of birds in a 4,500 ha area. The Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture used the value of at least 400 birds per 4,500 ha to define a source population. However, this raster contains the "raw" numbers so the user can experiment with thresholds. In this raster the numbers represent quail per 4,500 hectares, and the raster is comprised of 500 hectare pixels.
