1:100K Distribution of Oregon Anadromous Salmon and Steelhead habitat obtained from ODFW for use in the Western Oregon Plan Revision (WOPR) Proposed Resource Management Plan (PRMP). These data describe areas of suitable habitat believed to be used (currently and historically) by wild, natural, and/or hatchery fish populations. The term "currently" is defined as within the past five reproductive cycles. See the 'USETYPE' field description to differentiate between current and historic distribution. This information is based on extensive surveys, the best professional judgment of ODFW staff biologists and where possible, the professional opinions of staff from other natural resource agencies. Due to natural variations in run size, water conditions, or other environmental factors, some areas displayed may not be used by a species of fish on an annual basis. The Natural Resources Information Management Program (ODFW) makes no statement as to the validity of species absence in any particular area unless the record is accompanied by a confidence rating (see the attribute item, 'QUALCRIT') and the name of the biologist who contributed the information. BLM (Bureau of Land Management) WOPR (Western Oregon Plan Revision) PRMP: (Proposed Resource Management Plan) FSH (Fish) NRIMP: (Natural Resources Information Management Program) ODFW: (Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife) Data History: Genetic origin and present production data have recently been added to the distribution datasets. For an explanation of the categories and definitions, see the Entity and Attribute section. Supporting observation data (e.g. mapped fish survey locations) were recently published in GIS format and are available under the Observation - Sightings heading on the NRIMP Data Resources web site. These data represent a partial compilation of existing observation data. There are a limited number of cases where documented observation records extend beyond (upstream of) the distribution data. Based on a preliminary review, NRIMP has decided not to extend the distribution data for these records pending more thorough evaluation of each individual case. For example, the documentation record may be based on a ground measurement, such as 'rivermile,' which doesn't translate accurately into the GIS. The ground measures, in particular for streams of significant length and / or sinuousity, can sometimes be greater than the GIS measures that are built into the stream route system. These differences have yet to be reconciled. This data has been clipped to the WOPR extent boundary for analysis purposes. See process steps for details. Revisions: The first iteration of this data was completed in 1996. Since then, updates have been made to all anadromous zones in Oregon. The data will be updated approximately every two years as funding allows. Version 05 was created on Feb. 6, 2001. Version 06 was created on Jan. 18, 2002 (Hood and Clackamas areas updated) Version 07 was created on March 31, 2002 (North Coast, John Day, Umatilla, Upper Grande Ronde, and Enterprise areas updated) Version 08 was created on June 3, 2002 (Upper and Mid Willamette, Santiam, and Mid-coast areas update, not including the McKenzie, Middle or Coast Forks of the Willamette.) Version 09 was created on September 27, 2002 and includes all remaining anadromous zones in Oregon (coastal and inter-Columbia regions) Version 10 was created on February 11, 2003 and includes origin and production coding. Version 11 was created on June 17th and includes updated Quality Criteria, Status, Origin and Present Production coding. Version 12 was created on January 13th. All disputed distribution records have been resolved. Reviews_Applied_to_Data: All distribution data have been reviewed at least twice by ODFW field staff (typically district biologists). The date of review exists in the attribute table for each distribution record.
