1:100k Fish Distribution obtained from the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife for the Western Oregon Plan Revision.
BLM (Bureau of Land Management), WOPR (Western Oregon Plan Revision), WOPR Theme Group: FSH (Fish) WOPR Phase: AA (All Alternatives) WOPR Purpose: A (Analysis) Supplemental Information from ODFW as follows: Procedures_Used: These data were intitially developed by ODFW's Bull Trout coordinator and are based on data collected through 2000 by state, federal and tribal fishery biologists. Those data represent areas of documented Bull Trout presence. Most surveys captured by the initial dataset were completed during the summer and fall months. Wintertime distributions could vary significantly from summer/fall locations, but very little data exist statewide to portray an accurate picture of winter distribution for Bull Trout. These coverages are not considered complete as we continue to look for bull trout in potential habitat across their range and we likewise lack extensive information on winter habitat. During the 1:24,000 Fish Habitat Distribution Mapping project conducted in 2001 and 2002, these data were plotted on top of USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle pairs and then provided to ODFW and other natural resources agency field staff. Based on survey data, supporting documentation, and the best professional judgment of the field biologists, the distribution of usetypes (see the USETYPE field) were marked on the maps with colored pens. These hardcopy data were then digitized by ODFW GIS staff and stored as event tables, in .DBF and INFO file format. For the purpose of distributing these data, the event tables have been converted into coverage format with the EVENTARC command. While this results in a static version of the dataset, it allows the information be available in a more commonly used format. Event tables are available at: Revisions: The first iteration of this data was completed in 1997. The data will be updated approximately every two years as funding allows. Reviews_Applied_to_Data: All distribution data have been reviewed at least twice by ODFW field staff (typically district biologists). The date of review exists in the attribute table for each distribution record. The data contributor's name (field biologist), agency, and confidence in the data are present for each distribution record (arc).
