This USGS Data Release supports USGS Scientific Investigations Report (SIR) 2017-5079. Following is the abstract from SIR 2017-5079: This report documents methodology and results of a study to evaluate groundwater discharge by evapotranspiration (GWET) in sparsely vegetated areas of Amargosa Desert and improve understanding of hydrologic-continuum processes controlling groundwater discharge. Evapotranspiration and GWET rates were computed and characterized at three sites over 2 years using a combination of micrometeorological, unsaturated zone, and stable-isotope measurements. One site (Amargosa Flat Shallow [AFS]) was in a sparse and isolated area of saltgrass (Distichlis spicata) where the depth to groundwater...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This layer is geographically based on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. General Land Office Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) 1:24,000-scale Land survey Information System Data Base (LSIS) data for the states of Nevada and Utah sourced from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Digital Line Graph (DLG) dataset. Tabular data is derived from the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) Crop Inventory Data. NDWR inventories...

A three-dimensional, groundwater-flow model (MODFLOW-2005) was developed to estimate the hydraulic properties (e.g., transmissivity, hydraulic conductivity, specific yield, and specific storage) of volcanic rocks in Pahute Mesa, Nye County, Nevada. The model was calibrated using parameter estimation (PEST) by fitting estimated drawdowns to simulated drawdowns from 16 multiple-well aquifer tests. Water-level models were used to estimate drawdowns from continuous water-level data collected during multiple-well aquifer testing. This USGS data release contains all of the input and output files for the simulations described in the associated model documentation report (http://doi.org/10.3133/sir20165151). This data release...

A three-dimension groundwater-flow model (MODFLOW-2005) was developed to improve understanding of groundwater flow and pumping effects near the Long Canyon Mine in Goshute Valley, northeastern Nevada. Bulk hydraulic properties of carbonate rocks and basin-fill aquifers were characterized by simultaneously interpreting steady-state flow during predevelopment conditions and changes in groundwater levels and spring flows from the 2016 multiple-well aquifer test with an integrated groundwater-flow model. This USGS data release contains all of the input and output files for the simulations described in the associated model documentation report (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20215021).

This USGS data release represents tabular data and water-level modeling files for the 16 Pahute Mesa multiple-well aquifer tests conducted from 2009–2014. These datasets represent raw and simplified pumping time series data for the 16 pumping wells.
