This data release supports the following publication: Hittle, Elizabeth, 2017, Longshore water-current velocity and the potential for transport of contaminants: A pilot study in Lake Erie from Walnut Creek to Presque Isle State Park Beaches, Erie, Pennsylvania, June and August 2015: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2016–1206 126 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr20161206 Water-quality grab samples were collected about a meter from shore and coincide with the 25 longshore water-current velocity transects as closely as conditions would allow. Nearshore water-quality grab samples were collected on June 24, August 11, and August 19, 2015. Samples were analyzed for bacteria concentration, temperature, specific condictivity,...
These monthly water-use rasters estimate the total amount of groundwater used for aquaculture and irrigation purposes within the Mississippi Alluvial Plain during the growing season (April-October). This dataset contains 133 monthly water-use rasters that are totals of 6 different categories: aquaculture, cotton, corn, rice, soybeans, and all other crops. Units are in cubic meters per square mile. Aquaculture and irrigation water-use estimates are included in this data release in two different formats: georeferenced TIFFs (GeoTIFFs) for simple viewing and geospatial operations and a network common data form (NetCDF) for use in modeling applications and with each month as a separate raster array table.
These data were collected during a travel time and dissolved oxygen study along a 1-mile reach of the Blue River downstream from 58th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. The study was a cooperative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Urban Waters Federal Partnership program, and the Kansas City, Missouri, Water Services Department. This is part of a larger USGS effort supporting the Middle Blue River Basin Urban Waters Federal Partnership. This data release contains continuous water-quality measurements (Blue_River_CQWM.csv), rhodamine dye sensor data (Blue_River_dye_profiles.csv), analytical data from synoptic water-quality samples (Blue_River_QWDATA.csv), manual...

High-resolution geophysical mapping of Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Utah and Arizona was conducted between October 8 and November 15, 2017, as part of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Bureau of Reclamation to provide high-quality data needed to reassess the area-capacity tables for the Lake Powell reservoir. Seismic data collected during this survey can help to define the rates of deposition within the San Juan and Colorado Rivers, which are the main inflows to Lake Powell. These new data are intended to improve water budget management decisions that affect the natural and recreational resources of the reservoir. Multibeam echosounder bathymetry and...

ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
