Acoustic Doppler current profiler velocity and discharge measurements collected in and near the lock chamber of Brandon Road Lock and Dam, Joliet, Illinois, USA in December 2014
Water velocities and discharge were measured in the lock chamber and immediately downstream of Brandon Road Lock on the Des Plaines River at river mile 286 on December 9-10, 2014 using Teledyne RDI Rio Grande 600 and 1200 kHz acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP). The data were georeferenced with a differential GPS receiver with submeter accuracy. These ADCP measurements were collected in support of the US Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study (GLMRIS). Velocity measurements were processed using the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and others, 2013) to derive temporally- and spatially-averaged water velocity values. The text file "PET.txt" contains hourly potential evapotranspiration (PET) data, in thousandths of an inch, from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2018. Daily PET were computed from average daily air temperature, average daily dewpoint temperature, daily total wind speed, and daily total solar radiation and disaggregated to hourly PET, using the Fortran program LXPET (Murphy, 2005). The primary source of the data is Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne National Laboratory, 2018), and data processing followed the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera and Over (2018), with the data processed through September 30, 2018. The primary data for water year 2018 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, designated by the calendar year in which it ends) were downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2018) and processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). Bathymetric and supporting data for Sugar Creek Lake near Moberly, Missouri, 2018
Sugar Creek Lake is located approximately 4 miles northwest of Moberly, Missouri, in Randolph County, and has a full-pool surface area of approximately 330 acres. The lake primarily is used for recreation and drinking-water supply for the town of Moberly, Missouri. An earthen dam approximately 38-feet high and 1,125-feet long was constructed across the Sugar Creek valley in 1922. The elevation of the top of the dam is approximately 754 feet, with a 90-feet wide concrete spillway located near the right bank (west end) at an elevation of 746.8 feet.
